How to Help your Teeth Whitening Last Longer
When you go through the teeth whitening process you want to do everything that you can to make sure that your teeth whitening will last you as long as possible. When you get your teeth whitened they can become much, much whiter depending on the condition that they were in when you did the whitening and the method that you choose to whiten them. So, when you finally get your smile the way that you want it, the last thing that you want to do is to engage in habits that can leave them discolored again.
If you smoke cigarettes and you are serious about keeping your teeth white after you have had them whitened, then you will want to quit smoking. Cigarettes will cause your teeth to stain much faster. It won't take very long for the cigarettes that you smoke to stain your teeth again. Cigarette stains are very difficult to get off of your teeth.
Teas, coffee, and other drinks can also cause your freshly whitened teeth to become quickly stained again. If you decide to go ahead and drink such drinks as tea, coffee, soda, red juices, red wine, or other drinks which can stain your teeth then you will at least want to make an effort to brush your teeth after you drink them. However, it is a good idea to refrain from drinking these types of drinks if you can.
When you whiten your teeth you will also want to think about the foods that you consume after you have had them whitened. Now you will want to think before you eat so that you will be able to keep those nice white teeth. Some of the foods that you will want to stay away from to keep your teeth nice and white are: certain berries, Popsicles, slushies, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, tomato sauce, and more. If you have to eat these foods, or you have a hard time staying away from them then you will want to brush your teeth after you eat them. If you are unable to brush your teeth then at least rinse your mouth out afterward. There isn't any solid proof that brushing or rinsing will help much, but at least you will be doing something.
Some other things that you will want to do to help your newly whitened teeth are to make sure that you brush them at least three times a day, you should try to do this after you have eaten. You will also want to make sure that you floss your teeth after you eat. This will help you to remove the food that gets caught between your teeth. The longer that this food sets in your teeth the more of a chance that it has to stain your teeth. Also, instead of drinking juices, soda, and other drinks that will stain your teeth, you will want to try to drink water. Water is great when it comes to helping to keep your teeth clean.
